Strike a Balance Between Entertainment and Physical Activity Posted at 7/28/2010 10:05:00 PM 0 comments (+)
In our modern world of information driven technology, sometimes it’s easy to forget to stay active. The Internet dominates the daily lives of so many Americans these days that exercising can take a back seat. Media entertainment on the Web, on television, and even on your phone provides so much mental stimulation that most folks simply no longer crave the kind of stimulation provided by physical activity. Why go to the park down the street when you can view the beauty of wildlife from around the world right on your desktop screen? While the various technologies that people enjoy provide entertainment, there is a major downside. The average user is growing more and more inactive. Americans are growing fat and lazy, even if they are maybe growing smarter and more advanced in the process.

It’s time to strike a balance. Is it any surprise that more and more Americans suffer from heart disease and other physical problems? It's time for Americans to get off their collective rumps and go do something. Take a walk. Ride a bike. Travel somewhere. Play a game that requires physical activity. Get your heart pumping once in a while. Add some spice to your sex life, even it means you need to buy Cialis. The lack of physical activity is causing a range of blood pressure related ailments, such as erectile dysfunction.

There is a time and place for television and Internet. Of course, continue to enjoy the quality entertainment provided by shows like Burn Notice but be careful not to let it consume you. Go out and do some of the things your favorite characters are doing on the show. Relax and watch TV all you want, but don’t forget to make time for the physical aspects of life that you might be neglecting.
