Several important watches were sold at the Christie’s 2009 important watch sale. One of particular note was the IWC watch designed especially for the British Royal Army. This was an IWC Mark X created in 1945. The British Ministry of Defence specified that the watches have a higher resistance waterproofing and resistance to shock. Only six thousand were made and supplied to the Royal Army. It is also a real beauty with its luminous black dial in a stainless steel watch. The watch was sold for $ 8,086. Unless, you can time travel back to 1945 – you’re chances of getting one of these is relatively nil. But you can visit the replica dealer of our times. It just so happens that a very excellent replica of the IWC British Royal Army watch can be obtained. The BBW Big Pilots doublet “Vintage Military Classic” appears to be just that watch. The watch perfectly replicates the black dial and ochre yellow hour markers. The black and white hour and minute hands are almost perfect. The IWC logo and the Roman numeral hours are also perfectly made. The sub-dial at 6 o’clock is also a perfect match.
The watch also comes in some slightly revised versions. For one, the Roman numeral hour markers are in luminescent yellow and not white. This one is also marked as a Schaffhauser edition. Further beauty may be found in their replica “Portuguese Mystere Tourbillon”. This one echoes some of the Military Classic’s design but has its own identity.
For one thing, your eye will probably be drawn to the edition in black with the deep blue-black dial. This dial is perfectly contrasted and complemented by the tourbillon placed at 12 o’clock. The tourbillon is encased in a smooth-flowing upside-down “gold” shell fan design. When you see any of these you will buy your IWC imitation timekeepers without question.
