Thieves took away about P3 million worth of items from the Quezon City home of popular television host Wilfredo Buendia Revillame, or Willie Revillame, early Monday morning, a police official said.Senior Superintendent Magtanggol Gatdula, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) chief, said the incident occurred Saturday but Revillame only discovered it around 4 a.m. Monday.
“Revillame discovered the burglary upon entering his room and finding it in complete disarray, prompting him to report the incident to authorities,” he said.
Revillame reportedly went out of town during the weekend and left behind two household helpers inside his home located at 516 Cameron Street in the exclusive Corinthian Hills subdivision, Barangay (village) Ugong Norte in Quezon City.
Operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) and Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) were dispatched to the area at around 6 a.m. to conduct an investigation.
Initial investigation revealed that still unidentified members of an “akyat-bahay” gang entered the home of Revillame by breaking the bathroom window.
“Suspects gained entry through the house comfort room by destroying its back window and carted away with assorted jewelleries approximately worth P3 million,” Gatdula said.
In a radio interview, Revillame said it could be possible that the incident was an “inside job” because the suspects apparently knew where his duplicate keys were located. The robbers also attempted to open Revillame’s vault but failed.
